CareerBuilder Challenge Picks

This weeks CareerBuilder Challenge in La Quinta was a tough one because there are tons of players playing well. And having the budget I wasn’t able to pick all of my favorites. I first went with Kevin Na, he seems to play well on the West Coast swing and having played well last week he should be a contender. He also played well last year at this tournament as well as always being a consistent ball striker and putter. Na also was practicing here the week before the Sony Open with friends Danny Lee and John Huh, so he should have a good idea how the course will play. Next I’m going with Jamie Lovemark, who I think will ultimately win. He played great last year at this tournament and finished up last week with a top five at the Sony Open at Waialae. Up next I’ve got Luke List, a bomber of the golf ball and has seemed to find his game. Having a good fall season start as well having an average week last week at the Sony Open as well. List is also able to get the ball in the hole a lot which is key as birdies are a popular ingredient in the desert. I’m going with CAL favorite Michael Kim, he always seems to play well and makes cut so I have faith in him this week. Having gone to CAL he should be familiar with these golf courses and the weather should be familiarity. I’m sticking with the another Alabama product Trey Mullinax. He’s a big guy who bombs it, short irons into these greens will lead to birdies those are important this week. Rounding out my six picks is Brian Gay, a cheap price on the Golf Channel Fantasy game is a no brainier. Played well last week and has won this tournament many years back. Plus back with his original looper Kip Henley back on the bag, I feel a great tournament will propel Gay to another big week.
